Quantonation Backs QSENSATO with €1M Investment to Scale Quantum Sensor Manufacturing

Investment alongside Deep Ocean Capital will help the Italian quantum sensing company establish its in-house fabrication facility and industrialise a critical building block for next-generation quantum sensors

PARIS / BARI, September 17, 2026 — Quantonation, the leading global investment platform dedicated to quantum technologies and Deep Physics, today announced a €1 million SAFE investment in QSENSATO, backing the Italian quantum sensing company as it moves from research and development towards industrial-scale manufacturing.

A spin-off from the University of Bari Aldo Moro, QSENSATO is developing advanced atomic vapor cells and quantum sensors for applications ranging from positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) and medical diagnostics to infrastructure monitoring and materials characterisation.

At the heart of QSENSATO’s technology is a patented fabrication process for integrated atomic vapor cells. These cells are a critical component of several classes of quantum sensor, including magnetometers, atomic frequency references and radio-frequency sensors.

While quantum sensing has demonstrated exceptional performance in laboratory environments, manufacturing these components reliably, repeatably and at scale remains an important barrier to broader commercial adoption.

QSENSATO is tackling that bottleneck by bringing fabrication in-house.

The new financing will help accelerate the establishment of the company’s fabrication facility at the TecnoPolis Science and Technology Park in Valenzano, Bari. Expected to become operational by the end of 2026, the facility will give QSENSATO greater control over the production and industrialisation of its quantum hardware.

The company is also expanding its R&D, engineering and management teams as it prepares for the next stage of growth.

“Quantum sensing has produced extraordinary science, but scaling that science into products that can be manufactured reliably remains a major challenge,” said Raphael Bodin, an investor at Quantonation. “Gianvito and the QSENSATO team understand that the next breakthrough is not simply better sensor performance, but making that performance repeatable, manufacturable and commercially viable. That combination of scientific depth and industrial focus is what makes QSENSATO particularly compelling.”

Alongside the investment, QSENSATO has signed a research agreement with Italy’s National Institute of Metrological Research (INRiM) in Turin. The collaboration will support validation of the company’s fabrication process for integrated atomic vapor cells and its development for quantum sensing and metrology applications.

The investment complements QSENSATO’s existing backing from LIFTT and Quantum Italia, as well as funding secured through TecnoNidi, D3-4 Health, the European Space Agency’s Open Space Innovation Platform and ESA BIC.

“This €1 million SAFE investment is a strong vote of confidence from Quantonation and Deep Ocean Capital as we enter the next phase of QSENSATO’s development,” said Prof. Vito Giovanni Lucivero, CEO of QSENSATO. “The investment will accelerate the establishment of our in-house fab at TecnoPolis and our ability to industrialise quantum hardware components for sensing and metrology markets globally.”
