Who are they
QSENSATO is an Italian quantum sensing hardware company holding the exclusive license to a patented femtosecond-laser fabrication method for atomic vapor cells and atomic-photonic chips. The technology builds on the ERC Proof-of-Concept project PhotonFAB. The company was founded by Prof. Gianvito Lucivero (CEO) of the University of Bari, together with Prof. Annalisa Volpe of Politecnico di Bari and Dr. Domenico Tulli.
Laser-Written Vapor Cells for Quantum Sensors
Atomic-Photonic Chips, Written in Glass
QSENSATO uses femtosecond lasers to write atomic vapor cells directly into glass, in three dimensions and with multiple optical accesses, and to combine them on the same chip with integrated photonic circuits and fiber coupling. Compared with glass-blown and MEMS cells, this approach is designed to improve scalability, integration and modularity for sensor manufacturers. The first product lines are laser-written vapor cells and atomic-photonic chips, targeting optically pumped magnetometers for medical imaging, Rydberg-atom RF sensors for aerospace and defense, gyroscopes and chip-scale atomic clocks.

Our collaboration
We collaborate with QSENSATO to establish it as Europe’s industrial supplier of laser-written vapor cells and atomic-photonic chips for quantum sensors.
